Glipan.
Dear gentle reader, did you miss me?
:-)
We should begin this update with a sparkling new word I’ve borrowed from Emma Hamberg: Glipan. It literally means “the gap” or “the opening” — her metaphor for that sweet-spot in life when the kids are grown (or nearly), you’re not old yet, and suddenly you find yourself freer than ever, before grandchildren or elder limitations arrive.
And yes, this past year I’ve been living 100% in the glipan — and thriving. Some of you who follow me closely may already have noticed. I decided to dive headfirst into a grand personal adventure: getting to know this new version of myself. In the true Delphi know thyself spirit, obviously.
You might ask how or why. The answer is simple: the more I discover who I am, the gentler and more loving I become toward my flaws. And in return, I feel more content, more harmonious. Of course, I haven’t made it easy — chaos and challenge have always been my favorite playgrounds.
So here’s a glimpse into the “research areas” of my self-study so far:
• Technology: Entering a new era — filming life as a complement to photography & my philosophy. You’ll see more of that soon.
• Body: Back to CrossFit, exploring how food shapes my body, brain, and energy. The goal? Break the yo-yo cycle. Updates promised.
• Men: Realizing how female-centric my world has become, and how tricky it is at this age to meet men without sex complicating things. My solution: add genuine male friends (yes, many from dating apps — who knew!) into my circle.
• Sexuality: With menopause changes and patriarchal baggage from my upbringing, this is controversial terrain. My aim is simple but radical: to love my body as it is and embrace the freedom it gives.
• Personal moral pillars: I’ve spoken about them before, and they remain my compass — guiding everything I do.
And finally, the great paradox: Love & Freedom.
Can I love without demands? Love more than one? Feel free in love, and set those I love free? And, most importantly — can I love myself first, last, and always?
Tomorrow I’m off to my first Tantra festival to explore these questions further. Wish me luck — and don’t be shy, ask me later how it went!
